Sustainability Milestones

SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere. The 17 Goals were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which set out a 15- year plan to achieve the Goals.

Paris Agreement

The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change. It was adopted by the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) in Paris, France, on 12 December 2015.

Its overarching goal is to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.” To limit global warming to 1.5°C, greenhouse gas emissions must peak before 2025 at the latest and decline 43% by 2030.

European Green Deal

A package of policy initiatives, which aims to set the EU on the path to a green transition, with the ultimate goal of reaching climate neutrality (Net Zero) by 2050 with an interim target to cut net greenhouse gas emissions in the EU by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
